We Must Be in the Matrix
The expression “when it rains, it pours” couldn’t be more true sometimes. Why is it that quite frequently you’ll just get an insane amount of work at the exact same time? Does it really just boil down to probability? I’m sure that mathematicians out there will sprinkle in a couple of x’s and y’s, multiply it by the number of people on Earth, and give you the probability that you’ll be busy like you’ve never been busy before in your life.
What’s really strange is that I started noticing it about 10 years ago when I was running my own company. There would be no phone calls for hours and then all of a sudden, boom 2–5 phone calls at the exact same time. I see it occurring right now as well. The phone would not ring for 20–30 minutes, and then all of a sudden the flood-gates open up. And this isn’t even in the times that you would think are obvious, like lunch-hour.
I’ve always thought about the following question: what’s happening currently that would align everyone to make a call at this specific 20–30 second segment? Did something happen in the media? Was there traffic everywhere in the United States at the exact same time that prevented people from reaching their destination and inquiring about the product? The list of questions goes on.
What was equally strange, but more deducible, was that we would not have orders for a particular product for…
